HOUSE 01

As a General Contractor and custom home builder, the client tasked me with designing a unique, high performance home different from any other house constructed in the subdivision. The form of the home was strategically designed to maximize usable space on the lot, capture views from all key spaces, and to create a very private backyard sanctuary in a dense urban neighborhood. The horseshoe shaped design also allows more natural light to reach deeper into the kitchen and dining space, an important area for the client. To achieve the goal of building better, special attention was given to the envelope of the home. Insulated Concrete Forms were used for the foundation and all seams and penetrations were sealed on the exterior sheathing to create a tighter, more energy efficient home.
