HIGH PERFORMANCE REBUILD

The final design for this home evolved from a major remodel of the original 1970s split-entry home to a complete rebuild after I presented several energy efficient iterations to the client.  A new one-level, age-in-place home will now be constructed on the original foundation, matching perfectly with the client’s sustainability goals. To increase the efficiency of the new mechanical system and to maximize the indoor comfort of the home the envelope will be tightly sealed, heavily insulated, and high-performance windows will be installed throughout. The use of an 8-inch-thick double stud wall on the exterior provides a continuous thermal break and an expansive south-facing roof housing a solar array adds to the overall high-performance nature of the design.
